TRANSITION TO DELIVERY OF CARE

TRICARE will have two new managed care contractors starting October 1: Humana Military in the East Region and Health Net Federal Services in the West Region.  To make sure the move to the new managed care support contracts is smooth, the Department of Defense is guiding the process with greater visibility of the new contractors transition schedule.

To guarantee TRICARE beneficiaries receive quality health care during this transition, DoD will continuously monitor seven critical performance areas: provider networks, enrollment, customer service, management, referral management, claims processing, and medical management.   Through these quality assurance measures, the DoD will know that the managed care support contractors are performing to the standard we expect and you deserve.

What You Can Do Now

First, make sure you and all your family members are enrolled in the Defense Eligibility Enrollment System (DEERS), and review the information in DEERS for accuracy, especially your contact information (address, phone and email address).  Your primary care manager  either a new one or the same one you currently have - will need to be able to reach you.  If you don’t already have a milConnect account, register for one at https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/identitymanagement.  If you have an account, log in to check that your information in milConnect is correct.  While you used to get some materials mailed to you, such as claim forms and your Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements, under the new contract you will only be able to access that information on line.  Maintaining an active milConnect account will be more important than ever.

2017 Fairchild AFB Chess Tournament

A free event to be held on 17 March 2017, 1700 – 2000 for 4th graders to Adults

Format - The format will consist of 5 rounds of 15 minute games (each person will have 15 minutes on his/her clock).

Rules and Winning – The games will follow normal Chess rules for this format.  Since each player will have 15 minutes on his/her clock, thus a game will last no longer than 30 minutes in total.  After each move the player is required to stop his/her clock and start the opponent’s clock.  A player is not required to move unless his/her clock is running. A player loses when his/her King is checkmated, the player resigns, or if he/she runs out of time before checkmating the opponent’s King.  Draws are also possible according to normal Chess rules (lack of sufficient material, stalemated King, 3x repeat of a position, etc.).

Scoring – A win will be counted as 1, a tie a 0.5, and a loss as a 0.  The person with the highest score after 5 rounds wins.

Tiebreaks – If there is a tied score after 5 rounds for the top spots, playoffs will consist of a single 3 minute game to determine the winner.

Pairings – The Tournament Director will organize all pairings.  As this is an unrated event, pairings will be subject to his discretion.  Player’s piece colors will be determined by the Tournament Director.

Arbitration – In the event of a question regarding the rules, players are to pause their clocks and the Tournament Director is to be consulted.  All rulings are final.

Sportsmanship – Players are expected to behave in a professional and polite manner consistent with the highest traditions of the U.S. Military.  Disruptions, rudeness, cheating, and other forms of bad conduct will result in a forfeiture of the current game.  Any further instances will result in ejection from the tournament.

Equipment – Boards, pieces and clocks will be provided.  If a player wishes to bring his/her own equipment, the opponent must agree to its use in order to for it to be used in play.

For those who use the Fairchild Medical Clinic they would like to thank you for your continued patience during this time as they transition to a new electronic health record, MHS Genesis.  On 7 Feb the Fairchild clinic will be the first military treatment facility in the Department of Defense to use this new technology.  MHS Genesis improves their ability to monitor patient safety, outcomes, and operational and medical readiness.

During the transition, there will be limited appointments available within the clinic but they are happy to announce that there are appointments available with downtown partners.  If you have any questions concerning appointments, please call the clinic.  If you want to learn more about the new electronic health system, please visit www.health.mil/mhsgenesis .  The Med Group look forward to providing you better patient centered care.
